2021 Pre XMas Pop Up Art Sale
Revision - the Art of Recycling and the Sculptures' Society of BC hosted a pop-up art sale in the Bentall Centre, Downtown Vancouver, BC.
The sale showcased artists from both societies and included a broad range of genres such as classic, folk, steampunk, pop art, stone carvings, recycled metal creations, bronzes, and paintings at affordable prices.
ReVision PNE Art Project - Art In the Park
ReVision was by Vancouver’s PNE to create three sculpture installations on the themes of sustainability, zero waste and energy conservation for their end-of-summer festival in 2021. We also completed a performance art project so spectators could watch a sculpture being built. The performance art piece was a replica of the Breaking Wave Burning Man project of 2012, which Ron Simmer and others contributed to.
The original “Breaking Wave” was built entirely of reclaimed drift lumber collected from west coast beaches to call attention to ocean pollution from wood waste. The replica was built from local wood waste and was assembled by a crew of about 20 volunteers across five days at the PNE. Along with the original, this journey was documented by Ryan McCann and can be seen below.
The second installation was a 16 foot high sign with the message “Waste Not” configured in plastic discards and waste aluminum. Willie Kushner was the genius behind it’s design. Lastly, Ron Simmer created a sculpture around energy conservation, I called the SolarPunk Ikebana, a metal flower arrangement illuminated at night with stored solar power.
